Continuing his complete domination of the World Superbike Championship, Kawasaki Racing Team’s Jonathan Rea took an impressive double win at this iconic circuit, at an event marking his 150th career Superbike race.

Making it a Kawasaki 1-2 in both outings, Rea traded the lead with his team-mate Tom Sykes. After stopping to acknowledge the large and passionate Italian crowd, the Northern Irish rider dedicated his wins to Joan Lascorz, the Kawasaki rider who was seriously injured at the circuit three years ago. Rea now leads the series by an incredible 87 points, with Sykes now up to third place after his strong double runner-up placings.

It was Turkish delight in the support classes as the national anthem rang out twice for Kawasaki Puccetti Racing teamsters and fellow countrymen; Kenan Sofuoglu and Toprak Razgatlioglu. The Turkish compatriots took hard fought wins in the Supersport and FIM Europe Superstock 600cc Championship on their Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R machines. For Sofuoglu it was the climax of an incredibly difficult week in which he contemplated missing the event due to the illness of his young child. Razgatlioglu completed a 100% win record in the class and could potentially win the series at the next round, given his commanding points lead.

Jonathan, Tom, Kenan and Toprak showcased everything that Kawasaki endeavour for both on and off the track. To achieve wins and lead the points standings so convincingly in all these classes is a fantastic result.”

Kawasaki is also leading some of Europe’s leading domestic National Superbike Championships. Reigning Spanish CEV Champion Kenny Noyes started his 2015 campaign with a win and second place at round one at the Portuguese circuit of Portimao. The American is now joint points leader on his Palemeto PL Racing machine.

In the British Superbike series two Kawasaki riders have pulled away from the rest of the talented field after three rounds; James Ellison (JG Speedfit Kawasaki) leads four time champ Shane Byrne (PBM Kawasaki). In the French FSBK series, Gregory LeBlanc suffered a no points outing at Le Mans but bounced back with a double win at Nogaro, to hold a close third place in the series.

Offroad, the third round of the European Motocross Championships were held in Talavera, Spain, where Maxime Desprey outclassed his rivals with a fantastic two moto win on his KX-250F machine. The Bud Racing Kawasaki Monster Energy rider now sits just behind the championship leader in a series which showcases ‘future stars’, mirroring the philosophy of Kawasaki through its youth and amateur MX programmes.
